Body Ebro, day 36

2025-05-Milagro

Milagro, Aragón river, 24 May 2025. Project Cos d’Ebre / Body Ebro

After thirty-six days of walking through snow, rain and storms, buffeted by the cierzo, we now await the first warmth. We’ve witnessed the birth of the river in the heights of the Cantabrian Range, accompanied it through the canyons of Castile and seen the transition between the continental and Mediterranean climates in Euskadi. We’ve descended with the Ebro to the valley, crossed the gentle hills of Burgos, the vineyards of La Rioja and the croplands of Navarre. We’ve touched the stone of the rock-cut hermitages and the wood of the thousand-year-old yews. We’ve drunk the water of the springs and wept in the beech woods. We’ve become river, given ourselves to the earth, and perhaps come to know the kindest side of the world, of humans and of ourselves.

This is Cos d’Ebre / Body Ebro, and we haven’t even reached the halfway point yet.

Thanks to Oriol Gracià Carles for the photos and the company, as well as to Aida Boix Grau, Edgar De Ramon Grau and the whole team at Lo Pati, to Andrea Pacheco, who is curating the project’s exhibition opening in September at the same art centre in Amposta, and to the whole community that walks with us from afar and up close.
